"If you spend the majority of your days in the company of babies, toddlers, tweens or teens, then your happiness will be directly proportional to your ability to laugh often and enjoy the chaos. The child-rearing years, in particular, are meant to be hectic, playful, and fun!"

Our 1st Dance Recital!

Laken and I had our dance recital in Mid-May. What a blast! Saturday the recital was at 6:30 pm. I treated her to an up-do or "princess hair" as she called it. She sat perfectly still and was excited to have her princess hair. We had supper at a neighborhood barbeque and then, it was off to the recital. Nama, Grandpa, Bean, Madeline and Baby Constance and Daddy were all in attendance to watch. We able to watch the other dancers perform until intermission when we had to go backstage to get ready for our performance. She absolutely loved the Sugar Plum Fairies who were the pointe dancers the best! She got so excited everytime she saw one of the Fairies backstage. Finally, it was our turn. She was so delighted to be on stage and especially because she knew her special guests were in the audience. Afterwards we gave her a 12 Dancing Princess Barbie and Nama and Grandpa gave her a green sparkly wand. We did the show again on Sunday at 1:00 pm. She did better than I could have ever imagined and I had way more fun, too! It was a great weekend!

Dance Studio Dress Rehearsal

We had dance dress rehearsal at the dance studio when Brad was out in D.C., so the boys were in charge of the camera. Here are pictures of part of the action.

Preston's Farm Field Trip

Preston's Preschool class took a field trip to a local farm and I chaperoned. It is a good thing he is a city kid as farms are not his thing. He didn't want to get to close to any of the animals. No petting or holding from this kid. You can see in one of the pictures he did not enjoy the farm smells. The highlights were the newborn calves, chicks hatching in the incubator and the baby goat. They also got to make butter and eat it on crackers. Then, the farmer treated them to ice cream.

Washington Track Meet

Starting in 3rd Grade you are able to participate in the school track meet. Braeden ran the 50 meter dash and the hurdles.

Braeden is way at the back of the track participating in jump rope were he received a third place ribbon. Someday I'll own an SLR, but for now this will have to do.

He, also, did the standing long jump were he, again took home a 3rd place ribbon. He was so excited to have placed in a couple of events!
