From the Heart

Braeden showing off his skills and Clara being my ball retreiver.

It was a beautiful day for the From the Heart for Kids Event. This is the 2nd year for the kids event and the third year for From the Heart event in general. Our sunlighter Tyler did any awesome job with the sunlight. For those who don't know Tyler told Pastor Julie that he thought he's job in heaven would be to light the Sun. So, we always give thanks to him when we have a sunny day. I ran the hockey shoot-out station (thanks Chrissy, Ben and Mike for the Multipurpose present) and only took a brief break to run over the Spaghetti Dinner that is part of the event. The shirts for this days event say, "Friends don't let Friends Fight Cancer Alone."

The next day was the big race. There is a half marathon and a 5k run/walk. Preston, Laken, Clara and I participated in the 5K walk. It was windy day. We made an In Memory Sign with Pictures of the kids with Tyler to hang on the front of the stroller. Preston and Laken also wrote letters to Tyler and attached them to the Purple (purple is Tyler's favorite color) Star Balloons and released them up to heaven at the finish line. Angel, Tyler's Make-a-Wish Puppy joined in on the walking fun. All together the event raised over $30,000/$10,000 going to each of this year's chosen families.

Laken's Special Tea

Dad was honored to be the invited guest of Laken to her 'Special Tea' at preschool. Each student can invite one person, so this was a big honor for dad. When Laken's class took the stage, they started with a song where Laken was the fish and represented it great! They sang two more songs and then we got to eat some awesome muffins, grapes and juice. The kids also made special place mats for us. The second video highlights the itsy bitsy spider...Laken led things off and did her solo. The second pair of kids were really cute too, so make sure you watch that (starring Ava Carroll and Ethan). It was a great special tea!

End of April and Early May Happenings

Laken had bring your parents to class the last week in April. She loves, loves dance. It is her favorite thing and she hopes to be a "big ballerina" someday aka a Pointe ballerina.

So, when I was a little girl I watched Princess Diana's wedding to Charles. I remember the real-life fairytale story it was, so I was giddy when Kate and Prince William set there wedding date. Laken and I got up at 3:30 am to watch the historic event live. I dressed up in my version of my own fascinator (the only hat other than a ball hat I currently own) and a dress. Later, Laken donned her flower girl dress. We even went to my doctor's appt. dressed in our wedding splendor. It was a magical day.

One of my favorite holidays is May Day. We have yet to miss a single one since we've moved onto Mossy Creek. Albeit it was a very cold May day this year, but the kids and I still made our deliveries around the neighborhood. The kids were under the impression that the would get as many May baskets as they had delivered. Not the case...at least the Muir's finally saved the day by bringing us one. It was a good lesson in giving, not receiving.

Easter

The kids woke early and scrambled downstairs to take a peek at their baskets. Clara was excited to find Sesame Street characters amongst her candy. She loves Elmo and calls him something that sounds like "apple" and of course all the other characters are Elmo, too. Laken was very elated to find a princess pool. The girl could live in water. She loves bath and wants to swim in 60 degree weather. My friend Susan says it is because she is Pisces and their element is water (Susan is a Pisces, too). Braeden was just hoping for chocolate, but also found hockey shoulder pads and Preston found Star Wars legos. Then, we had the traditional egg hunt. Preston found the "Mike" egg.

Next, it was off to church. As with any holiday church service we found the sanctuary packed and found ourselves downstairs watching via the video feed. Hence, the need for the building project that is beginning. The kids received play dough at the children's message and Clara was elated to not have the confines of the pew. I lost a bet to my fam as I was sure the scripture reading would be John 20, Where Jesus asks Mary why she is crying and Mary turns and says "Rabboni, which means teacher." My husband and children 1st of all didn't believe that such a scripture existed and secondly thought no way would it be read. The were right on one account much to my dismay.

After church we headed to Nama and Grandpa's to hang with the cousins and eat Easter Dinner.

Then it was the traditional Easter egg hunt. Clara got to participate on her own for the 1st time.

Followed up by a mean baseball game. The boys almost beat Eric and Brad and even my Granny got a solid base hit. We hung outside in the spring weather for the entire day.

Easter Eggs

Everyone had a blast dyeing eggs. It was Clara's 1st time as she was just a babe last year. She loved every minute of it.

Braeden's creations. Chrissy dared Preston to make a Mike is weak, Preston is quite unique egg. Preston didn't think that was very kind, but Braeden didn't have a problem doing it.

Baby Meier Ultrasound

We had our ultrasound the end of March. We did not find out what we are having. We do not like to peek at our gift until birth day. Everything looked good which is always such a relief, especially for those of us who have struggled with loss. I see the doctor once a week and then, in June, I should start going in for monthly ultrasounds, too. Just to make sure everything continues to look as it should. We started our immediate family pool so if anyone else would like to get in on the guessing game, leave your comments. Here is what the pool looks like thus far:

August 10th-Boy (Braeden)
August 12th-Girl (Me)
August 17th-The Due Date
August 18th-Girl (Brad)
August 20th-Boy (Preston)
August 29th-Boy (Laken)
