My Girls!

My pretty girls!

Blog catch up

Uncle Mike came on Valentine's Day to paint the girls room pink. Laken was ecstatic and chatted his ear off.
Speaking of Valentine's, here are my two littlest valentines. Brad, Clara and I also went out for a chamber sponsored dinner event.

My little Pudge has gotten bit by the Goalie bug. He loves suiting up in the backyard and last night he was pretending he was goal tending during the USA vs Canada men's game.

Clara sporting her Gammy diapers. I can't believe she will outgrew these very soon. Then, I think we will be hanging up the cloth diaper gig. It was fun while it lasted, but it is not for our busy lifestyle. I'm glad we tried though.
Here are the latest happenings in our household the last two weeks. The boys had awesome school conferences. Braeden's test scores are all well above were they are suppose to be. He is reading at a 9th grade level (thank you vision therapy!). Preston is a perfectionist (like we didn't already know that) and is such a leader in his classroom. I'm so proud of my boys!

Braeden had two hockey tourneys this month, of course momnesia set in and I forgot to bring the camera to both. He took 3rd place in the Waseca Tourney and Consolation in last weekends tourney at Breezy Point. We all had blast on our mini vacation there.

First Month

I can't believe my baby girl is a month old. And we've already seen her change before our eyes. It makes me so teary-eyed. She started smiling at 2 weeks old. Brad was the first to receive those precious smiles. I love those smiling moments they are the best part of my day and I wish I could just bottle her up like that forever. She is also filling out her newborn clothes...a change from nothing seeming to fit on her. And she is fitting into her carseat better. Although she still can't peek out the whole of the carseat cover, which I'm sure is why she is not a big fan of going places in it. She got to her 1st hockey game at 6 days old and Braeden even scored a goal for her. She also got to help me teach Sunday School one Sunday and went to Daddy's office Christmas Party, too. She loves to lay awake on her back all stretched out. We had to invest in a little activity gym thing, so the her siblings could respect her space when she lays under it. She is a trooper about being toted from rink to rink to big brother's hockey games. We hope she never has anymore illness scares. She is weighing in at 8 lbs 11 ounces and 22 inches long. The nurses all think she will outgrow all her clothes length wise before she does width wise. (Sounds like Miss Lexie)Happy first month, Clara Lillian! We are so glad you are part of our family!

RSV Blues

We took Clara and Laken to Urgent Care on the morning of Sunday, Jan 24th. Laken was diagnosed right away with a double ear infection. Clara was not running a fever and her lungs sounded wet. They swabbed her nose right away to test for RSV. Then, sent us down to x-ray to get a chest x-ray. I extremely detest x-rays for babies. I had try to hold her still with arms up over her head while I was wearing the lead vest thing. We had to do them twice and I thought the x-ray tech was a mean, crabby lady. Excuse me, but we had a hungry 3 week old on our hands! Then, waiting what seemed like forever for the rsv test to come back. The chest x-ray looked fine. We finally got the rsv test back, positive. We waited another hour or so for a nurse to come down to urgent care to escort us to our room. It seemed like forever to get all registered for our hospital stay. We put Clara in a little infant gown and they brought us a little OB bassinet. They hooked her up to an oxygen monitor, got all her vitals and started her on nebulizer steriod treatments. These would take place every 4 hours with nurses checking her vitals and lung sounds every so many hours as well. The would also suction our her little nose every so often, too. She was miserable and uncomfortable. I was stressed, uncomfortable and lonely to say the least. The next morning they placed her on oxygen with the little things going into her nostrils. They had to put some adhesives on her little cheeks to keep the oxygen thing around her face. When it was time for us to be discharged the nurse did not want to peel them off for fear they would rip her precious skin off. So she advised me to wait a few days and try to soften them up with bath water. I hope RSV stays far, far away from us!

Clara's adhesives from her oxygen.

The red spots the adhesives left on her cute little face.

Sisterly love

Laken adores, adores Clara. I hope they will always have this much love and caring for her sister. I love seeing her interact with her sister and watching Clara give Laken smiles back. It just warms my heart.
Laken could not wait until she could give Clara her very 1st attempt at a bottle.
