The Flood

Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism The flood waters from the Straight River have come dangerously close to the Chamber building. You can see that wonderful help in the community assisted us with sandbags. So far no water in the building.

A Ballerina's 1st day

Laken had her 1st day of dance at the end of August. She loves going to Jill Hogaard's Dance Academy. This year she goes for 45 min and she gets to tap along with ballet. How fun!

Anyone wanting to help her with fundraising for dance can do so by logging onto www.gafundraising.com. Then enter 723775 and put Laken Meier in the names (this is the company I work for, too).

Annual Mossy Creek Party

The Wheeler's hosted an awesome neighborhood block party this year. We even got to go on a hayride more than once. Laken had fun with her girlfriends and the boys had a blast running wild. We heart our neighborhood :)

Nicole's wedding shower

My cousin Nicole is getting married Oct 2nd. My aunt Sue and cousin Chris had a wedding shower for her in Rochester. We had to play a game where we put a paper plate on top of our head and then, draw what her wedding cake will look like. We also played the, "I've never" game. The girls had a blast with their cousins. Little did we know that the following weekend we'd all be together, again, at Grandpa's funeral.

Shane and Sarah are married!

Shane Lundgren married his long time girlfriend last summer. But, they held a reception at their new house in Minneapolis. It was so much fun to catch up with them, Dan Hernandez and Eric and Kate Caulfield. We definitely decided we need to get together more often. We also learned that Sarah is related to the MN Wild hockey coach and he was there! We were totally bugging Shane about getting us tixs :) Clara got to come along, too, as Gammy and Grandpa took the big kids to a Greek Festival were they had their own fun.

Swimming Lessons

The Monday after the Egan Wedding, the kids started swimming lessons. This was the 1st year we had to spend 2 hours at the Country Club as the higher levels are offered an hour earlier than the lower ones.

Braeden's did is lessons mostly in the deep end. He had the butterfly to his stokes and passed level 5 with ease. Bring on level 6 next summer!!

Laken blowing bubbles. Laken passed level one! Of course, her biggest highlights were her teacher and socializing with the other little girls. She will be in level two next summer!

Preston had a big break through year. He learned to go under water! It was awesome! He has been afraid up until now. Now he is just the little fish we knew he could be. Level two passed, level three is in store for him next summer!

And We Danced

This song says it all. This sums up the whole day. Our family had a blast! And, each and everyone of us will remember this day for the rest of our lives. Thank you Ben and Chrissy for including all of us in your special day! We love you and can't wait until you move closer (that is my new catch phrase for every time I talk to you now ;) P.S. thanks Ben for the rated G music.

The Meier Family Dance

The moment I stressed about all day. I was just hoping my scheming for the DJ's name, practicing endlessly for a month and emailing the mp3 to the DJ would pay off. I was really counting on all the kids participating. I figured with 5 of us giving toasts, someone had to be different. I can't believe that we pulled it off...then, to top it all off Ben and Chrissy did an awesome dance to a song that will forever be known in our house as, "Ben and Chrissy's song"!

And we danced, and we cried and we laughed and had a really, really, really good time

So, the title above seems to sum up Ben and Chrissy's wedding. It is also the song they danced to by Macklemore as their 1st dance. So, it's
fitting :)

The day started out at the salon getting all beautiful. They really had to work their magic on me, as I was in the chair for a looong time. Laken's only request was curls and she got them and even some lip gloss and color on her cheeks ;) Chrissy looked like a model after we were finished.

Then, it was off to church to get dressed and take some pre-wedding photos. I finally got see my
boys looking all handsome!

Finally, it was time to take the way down the aisle.

g

Braeden escorted Gammy to her seat. Then, later he nailed his reading from the book of Sirach! Hopefully, we'll get video proof of that someday.

Jason and I ready to embark on our journey down the massive aisle.

Preston and Laken all ready to go.

Preston keeping Lake in check.

Grandpa Dick a bundle of nerves and Chrissy as cool as could be.

After the nuptials, a few picks.

The photo that bruised my ego...I was not asked to be in it by the photographer & before I could object she was done snapping it (sorry I'm a Cancer and we are sensitive buggers). Can't believe my parents snapped it, too.
Thank goodness there was a limo bus with drinks!

We're just a little all too sexy ;)
Next up my toast....

Wedding Rehearsal

The Meier clan packed the vehicle up and got the show on the road bright and early Friday morning, August 6th. We arrived at Forest Hills Country Club to help Ben and Chrissy decorate for their reception on Saturday.

Ben and Chrissy had been apart for the entire week leading up to the wedding, so they were super excited to finally see each other.

We helped set out the cool table decorations Ben's mom assembled. And, the yummy favors we helped do up.

Clara and Alexis enjoyed each other's company....

as, the candy buffet was put together.

After eating lunch, picking up tuxs and getting gussied up, we rehearsed how the wedding ceremony would happen.

Preston and Laken did a great job ;-D

As, did Grandpa and Chrissy. Chrissy looking stunning as ever.

After Father approved of our performance, we headed to Piggy's Restaurant where we were treated to an awesome spread by the Egan family. Ben's Dad gave a phenomenal speech were he addressed each person by name. Amazing! Poor Mike picked the wrong time to sneak out for a beverage and walked in as Mr. Kim was in the process of delivering his speech. We had a great time getting to know Jill (Chrissy's personal attendant) and her boyfriend. They were so kind to the kids. Chrissy and Ben gifted us with amazing items. And, Aaron wrapped up the evening with a beautiful poem. Then, it was time to get everyone back to the hotel to try get some much needed rest.

Preston turns 7!

We celebrated Preston's 7th Birthday at Pizza Ranch. It kicked off a busy weekend. He had a blast with his buddies and Gammy, Grandpa, Chrissy, Amy, Aaron and Alexis were even able to attend. They only bummer was that his birthday happened to be the same day as Brad's Chamber Golf Outing. He got many awesome gifts! Everyone was very generous. He decorated his own cake that was complete with a wild puck. And, Pizza Ranch even put on the birthday music with light show. Plus all the video game action any boy could ever want. He had a great day!
