"If you spend the majority of your days in the company of babies, toddlers, tweens or teens, then your happiness will be directly proportional to your ability to laugh often and enjoy the chaos. The child-rearing years, in particular, are meant to be hectic, playful, and fun!"

Embracing God's Vision

On September 8, 2013 I encountered an incredible experience during Pastor Dean's Sermon at Church.  It's amazing how God gives us exactly what we need.  We weren't even suppose to be at the Rally Sunday Service.  We were suppose to be at a family reunion in Moline, IL.  But, cancelled hotel reservations, by someone other than us, dictated otherwise.

During the service we were encouraged to close our eyes and open our hearts and minds to guided imagery.  We were to picture ourselves walking down a street and take in all the sights, sounds and smells.

My street?...Mossy Creek Dr (our current address).  It was a warm summer day.  Not too hot and a slight breeze was blowing the green leaves of the trees.  There were several pieces of gravel staggered along the walk and my shoe seem to kick them as they went rolling on down the street.  I vividly remember walking past each home in my neighborhood along the way.  I couldn't smell anything that came to mind.

Up ahead there was a man walking.  We were instructed to notice what he was wearing:
The man was wearing a red and blue plaid flannel shirt.  He had on blue jeans and a light brown leather belt.  He shirt was tucked into his blue jeans.

Finally, we were cautioned not to change the setting, but the man up ahead is JESUS.  What do you say/What do you ask him?

Of course I asked him what has been weighing heavily on our family (and many friends, family and community members) the past 9 months, I asked him where we were suppose to be?  Jesus' answered with outstretched arms, "This is your home." Then, I asked him how I can stop feeling so overwhelmed?  Jesus responded, "I have given you the tools.  Now use them."

The whole experience was pretty amazing.  And for anyone curious, (and we know there are many) our home remains Mossy Creek Dr.  We are definitely trying to find our "new normal" and some days are more challenging than others (today being one of those).  I am still working to decipher what my "tools" are exactly.  I sure wish that one came with more explicit, step-by-step instructions.  One thing I wasn't anticipating from an "almost move" is relationships with what I considered to be "good friends" to be strained.  But, God has opened my eyes to the fact he is merely pruning us for new growth (friends/relationships) and new experiences. And we, undoubtedly, are looking forward to the adventure!
