7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess-Chapter2 Day 12


Chapter 12, Day 2

Brad and I both agree that wearing 7 articles of clothing for the month of January was really not so terrible.  This month is an entirely different story.  Only 7 measly foods for the month of February.  We aren't even half way through the month and I'm so hungry!  Temptation is great!  Nearly every food or drink looks or sounds soooooo good right now! Ice cream, peanut butter, pizza, cheesecake and a nice craft beer all sound so lovely right now. 

I wondered what the Bible says about fasting.  As this is a form of a fast. Jesus says in Matthew 6:16-18
And when you fast, don't make it obvious, as the hypocrites do for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truththat is the only reward they will ever get. But when you comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your father. who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. 

Got it!  I will try to keep up my grooming. And try not to make it obvious that I would love a bite or sip of whatever anybody else is eating or drinking.  Believe me this has nothing to do with public approval (I wouldn't sacrifice food for that), rather a lesson in how we can live with a lot less.  And stop eating and buying foods without intention.  The hunger pangs we are experiencing are constant reminders of our weakness and dependence on God.

7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess-Chapter Day 1

Here goes nothing....this is going to be really hard.  Like really, really hard.  Too bad an emergency root canal had left unable to binge eat, prior to Day 1.  Every single food, food commercial, recipe, etc. sounds soooo good!   Her are my 7 foods:

1. Ground Beef
2. Potatoes
3. Raspberries
4. St. Joe's Flat bread
5. Dark Chocolate Almond Milk
6. Chocolate Protein Powder
7. Cheese
I can have water to drink, too.

Brad's 7 are:
1. Ground Beef
2. Eggs
3. Wheat Bread
4. Raspberries
5. Cheese
6. Turkey
7. Coffee
Again, unlimited water is allowed.

We can only use salt, pepper & olive oil to season with.  No condiments or sauces are allowed.
