Braeden showing off his skills and Clara being my ball retreiver.It was a beautiful day for the From the Heart for Kids Event. This is the 2nd year for the kids event and the third year for From the Heart event in general. Our sunlighter Tyler did any awesome job with the sunlight. For those who don't know Tyler told Pastor Julie that he thought he's job in heaven would be to light the Sun. So, we always give thanks to him when we have a sunny day. I ran the hockey shoot-out station (thanks Chrissy, Ben and Mike for the Multipurpose present) and only took a brief break to run over the Spaghetti Dinner that is part of the event. The shirts for this days event say, "Friends don't let Friends Fight Cancer Alone."
The next day was the big race. There is a half marathon and a 5k run/walk. Preston, Laken, Clara and I participated in the 5K walk. It was windy day. We made an In Memory Sign with Pictures of the kids with Tyler to hang on the front of the stroller. Preston and Laken also wrote letters to Tyler and attached them to the Purple (purple is Tyler's favorite color) Star Balloons and released them up to heaven at the finish line. Angel, Tyler's Make-a-Wish Puppy joined in on the walking fun. All together the event raised over $30,000/$10,000 going to each of this year's chosen families.
